Major delays hit Melbourne's train network

Commuters in Melbourne have been been hit with lengthy delays caused by a signalling issue that disrupted city loop services.

Services resumed about 9.30pm on Wednesday after a signalling issue near Southern Cross Station three hours earlier caused major delays across 14 train lines.

All lines with the exception of Stony Point had been affected by the loss of signalling power at Southern Cross.
