'Incredible news': Hardworking Melbourne family wins fight to stay in Australia

A hardworking family who have lived in Australia for nearly two decades have won their fight to stay in the country.

The Lee family from Melbourne's east were facing deportation after they were ripped off by a dodgy immigration agent.

Husband and wife Wonsang Lee and Soonyoung Park confirmed today they had been granted permanent residency visas.

The family has been living in their Forest Hill property with their children since 2005.

In March 2016, the family applied for Employer Nomination Scheme visas and permanent residency visas through an immigration agent in Glen Iris.

But after no contact, they realised something was wrong.

The Department of Immigration informed them that their application had never been lodged.

It comes days after the family created a crowdsourced petition which gathered almost 12,000 signatures in support.

Soonyoung Park said in an update today her family had been granted permanent residency in Australia.

She said the news was "incredible".
