Narrow Labor lead on Vic poll eve

Three polls on the eve of the Victorian election suggest Labor maintains a narrow lead over the Liberal party.

A Fairfax Ipsos poll has Labor leading 52-48 on a two-party preferred vote when based on stated preference flows.

But using preference flows from the 2010 election, the parties are tied 50-50 two-party preferred.

Labor's primary vote was down four points to 35 per cent, while the coalition was up three points to 42 per cent.

The Greens were stable on 15 per cent, down one point, in the poll of 1236 voters taken over three days to Friday.

The same result - a Labor two-party preferred lead of 52-48 - was also seen in ReachTEL poll published by the Seven Network late on Friday and a Galaxy poll in Friday's issue of the Herald Sun.

The ReachTEL poll also found a majority expect a Labor win, with 62.3 per cent thinking this will be the outcome compared with 37.7 per cent who expect a Liberal win.

The Galaxy poll found Denis Napthine was preferred premier (41 per cent) but his lead over Opposition Leader Daniel Andrews (38 per cent) had narrowed in recent weeks.
