Knight computer ban over alleged porn

Prison authorities have banned mass murderer Julian Knight from using a computer after allegations pornography was found on his account, a court has heard.

The Hoddle Street gunman, who was declared a vexatious litigant in 2004, came before the Victorian Supreme Court on Tuesday to apply for access to his prison computer account, to prepare for ongoing court cases.

Those cases include action over prisoner remuneration and an ACT case in which Knight claims he was assaulted while he was a cadet at Duntroon.

Knight claimed he had been "forever more" barred from entering the Port Phillip Prison's education centre or library, where computers were kept, over "accusations" pornography was found on his account.

His material was seized and examined, Knight said.

"That search was complete weeks ago," he told the court.

Barrister Liam Brown, acting for Corrections Victoria Commissioner Jan Shuard, said the allegations against Knight were subject to a process.

"There may be some consequences to Mr Knight's access, but no decision has been made," he said.

Mr Brown said arrangements could be made to enable Knight supervised access to necessary legal documents, but Knight was sceptical about whether it could be facilitated.

"My prisoner computer account contains a multitude of files," he said.

Knight murdered seven people and injured 19 others in 1987 during a shooting rampage in Melbourne.

His application will come back before the court on Friday.
