Knife point carjacking outside Melb home

A woman has been forced out of her car at knife point as she was parking outside her Melbourne home.

The thief then used the stolen car in two burglaries and an attempted burglary, police say.

The 63-year-old woman was parking outside her Northcote home at 11.30pm on Tuesday when a hooded man came up to her with a knife and forced her out of the car.

The Honda Jazz was used in a series of burglaries at shopping centres within hours of the theft.

Police say four men used the car to steal cigarettes.

The woman's sewing machine and other property was dumped on the street.
