Key findings in Vic police gender report

WHAT HAS THE LATEST REPORT ON VICTORIA POLICE GENDER ISSUES FOUND?

ISSUES OF CONCERN:

* A survey of 943 members found one in four women (25.8 per cent) reported experiencing sexual harassment between December 2015 and October 2018.

* One in 10 men (9.8 per cent) also experienced sexual harassment.

* Women still make up just 34.1 per cent of Victoria Police's 20,965-strong workforce.

* The report ultimately identified "continuing systemic and attitudinal barriers to reform, and unacceptably high rates of gendered harm across Victoria Police workplaces."

PROGRESS:

* The pay gap between men and women in Victoria Police was 7.6 per cent in 2018, down from 9.5 per cent in 2016.

* The share of women officers accessing flexible work arrangements was 37.9 per cent in 2018, compared with 27.2 per cent the year before.

* There was a 21.8 per cent boost in the representation of women in the inspector rank in 2018, compared to 2015, and a 7.5 per cent boost for the superintendent rank.
