Junior footy coach fired for fighting player
A junior football coach has been sacked over an on-field fight with his own players in Melbourne's west.
Video obtained exclusively by 9NEWS appears to show the coach pinning one of his players down during the Melton South under-18s match against Ballarat at Melton Recreation Reserve yesterday.
Several members of the team can be seen trying to assist the player on the field’s edge.
The club confirmed the incident occurred at a football match and an internal investigation is underway.
“The coach has since been moved on and the Melton South Football Club does not tolerate this behaviour and it shouldn’t happen,” Clinton Newbold, Senior Vice President Melton South Football Netball Club, said in a statement.
