Perjury charges against suspended jockey Danny Nikolic have been dropped.

Nikolic, 39, had been accused of lying in sworn evidence this year to beat a dangerous driving charge after his car crashed in Melbourne's south in March 2012.

Nikolic, of South Melbourne, pleaded not guilty to perjury and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The charges were dropped on Tuesday.

Nikolic is banned from racing until October 2015 and will have to reapply for his racing licence at the end of the suspension.

He won the 2003 Caulfield Cup riding Mummify.
