Jackson faces $2.4m bill over HSU dosh

Civil matters involving former union boss Kathy Jackson have culminated in orders totalling $2.4 million against the undischarged bankrupt.

Victoria Police continues to investigate the disgraced whistleblower's conduct at the Health Services Union from 2008.

The Federal Court on Tuesday ordered Jackson to pay her former union a total $997,349 in judgment interests and costs.

She had already been ordered to pay the HSU about $1.4 million in August, after Federal Court Justice Richard Tracey found she misappropriated its money.

Jackson used union money to pay for travel, groceries, entertainment and even her divorce, he found.

The latest judgment means the former HSU secretary now owes the union about $2.4 million.

Current HSU secretary Chris Brown said the union was unlikely to see the bulk of the money Jackson owed, but was confident part of the sum would be recovered.

It was the last of the civil matters involving Jackson, he said.

Jackson tried to appeal Justice Tracey's August judgment, but her bid was rejected by the court earlier this month.
