Injured Vic man trapped under excavator

A man has serious injuries after an excavator fell on him in Melbourne.

The man, aged in his 50s, was attempting to load the excavator onto a trailer in Thornbury on Sunday afternoon, when it flipped and the bucket landed on him, the Metropolitan Fire Brigade says.

Firefighters arrived and quickly freed the man and he was taken to Austin Hospital in a serious but stable condition with leg injuries.
