Vic raids net ice, Ferrari and pen pistols

Six men have been charged after police seized $3 million worth of drugs, sports cars, pen pistols and cash in raids across Victoria.

The early-morning searches at nine addresses uncovered 16kg of the drug ice, about half a kilogram of MDMA, steroids and an unknown powder, police said on Wednesday.

Five men aged between 22 to 53 were charged with drugs, firearms and explosives offences and are expected to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday.

A 35-year-old Langwarry man was charged with drug and firearm offences, and will appear in Morwell Magistrates Court on Thursday.

The raids targeted three addresses at Bentleigh East, two each at Oakleigh South and Moorabbin, Glen Iris and Longwarry.

High-end vehicles including a red Ferrari California and Mercedes Benz C63 were seized along with two jetskis, a motorbike, eight firearms including seven pen pistols, and a "significant" amount of cash.

Superintendent Sharon McKinnon said about 120 officers were involved in the raids and police were pleased with the outcome.

"Whilst we've shut down a significant syndicate today, there are more out there," she told reporters.

The raids are part of police operation targeting the trafficking and manufacture of methylamphetamine.

Ms McKinnon said it was too early to determine whether the properties raided had been used to make the drugs.
