IBAC probe into V/Line, TAFE providers

Victorian regional rail operator V/Line and two education providers will be investigated for "alleged serious corrupt conduct".

The Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission on Tuesday says it will hold hearings later this month into regional rail operator V/Line, South West TAFE and the Kangan Institute.

The hearings will investigate conflicts of interest and transparency relating to the recruitment of certain V/Line officers and contractors, and its systems and processes for the accountability of public money.

IBAC will also look into the circumstances of the awarding of qualifications to Rebecca Taylor, director of Taytell Pty Ltd.

The investigation will cover whether current or former officers at South West TAFE and Kangan misused their position to interfere in awarding her qualifications.

Payments to Taytell from South West TAFE and Kangan in connection with its third party training agreements will also be investigated, IBAC says.

The hearings will begin in Melbourne on June 27.

South West TAFE, Kangan and V/Line have been contacted by AAP for comment.
