Gun shots fired into Melbourne home

Shots have been fired into a Melbourne home while a man and woman were asleep inside.

A number of rounds struck the front of the Yellow Box St home in Maidstone at 11.35pm on Sunday.

While police were searching nearby for the shooter they intercepted a car speeding on Ballarat Road in Kensington at 11.48 pm.

A 26-year old man was charged with drug and firearm possession, after ice and a gun in his car were found in his car.

However, police say he is not believed to be linked to the incident in Yellow Box Street.
