Girl dies in country Victoria road crash

Four people, including a young girl and an 88-year-old woman, lost their lives on Victoria's roads in less than 24 hours.

The girl was killed and two other children were seriously injured in a two-car crash in country Victoria on Tuesday.

The crash in Emerald took the state's road toll to 258 for the year - 32 more than for the time last year.

Earlier on Tuesday, a man died following a collision between his car and a truck near Ballan and a second man died when two cars collided head-on near Korumburra.

The three deaths on Tuesday came after an 88-year-old woman died when her car ran off a Templestowe road in Melbourne and smashed into a tree on Monday night.
