Body of girl, 4, found floating off Victorian surf beach

The body of a four-year-old girl has been found floating in an inlet off a surf beach at Torquay, Victoria.

The girl had been reported missing to police shortly before her body was recovered about 7.40pm yesterday, News Corp reports.

Paramedics tried to resuscitate the girl but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the death was not suspicious and are preparing a report for the coroner.

It was not clear if the girl was a local or holidaying with her family.
