A 23-year-old man has been charged with 21 offences after shots were fired at two vehicles in Melbourne last week.

The Werribee South man is the fourth person to be charged over the twin shootings.

A man was shot at in Wyndham Vale on Wednesday after he stopped to check on a woman whose car was blocking another street, while a marked police van was shot at early on Thursday morning when officers were attempting to stop a stolen car in Hoppers Crossing.

Police then raided homes and a Werribee shopping centre on Thursday night and arrested seven people with three being charged.

They found stolen cars, trailers and other property as well as ammunition.

The 23-year-old was charged on Saturday night after previously being held in hospital under police guard.

The Werribee South man has been charged with 21 offences including evade police, assault, reckless conduct endangering life, theft and weapons-related offences.

He's been remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on Sunday.
