Girl, 4, dies after being pulled from Melbourne lake on horror day of drownings

A girl pulled unresponsive from a suburban Melbourne lake on a horror day of drownings last week has died.

The four-year-old girl was pulled from Lysterfield Lake at Narrewarren in a critical condition last Thursday about 5.50pm.

Emergency services worked on the Doveton girl and she was transported to hospital but died on Saturday.

The death is not being treated a suspicious.

It is the fourth fatality in Victorian waters from that day.

Two people drowned just 20 kilometers from each other on the Mornington Peninsula, a man in his 80s at Rye front beach and 45-year-old woman Aida Hamed.

A third person died at Venus Bay after trying to rescue a teenage girl and her father trapped in a rip.

Lisa Mandeltort has been remembered by her family as a passionate school teacher who would not have thought twice about saving the 14-year-old girl and her dad.

On the day of the drownings, Life Saving Victoria general manager Liam Krige described the tragedies as a "really sad day" for the state.

"It's a timely reminder that we really do encourage all Victorians to wherever possible try and attend a patrolled location."
