Four Melbourne teenagers are under arrest over an alleged assault on a taxi driver they refused to pay.
Police allege the two girls and two boys walked away without paying for a taxi ride to Wollert about 2.45am on Anzac Day.
The driver, 25, received serious head injuries and is in hospital after he attempted to restrain one of the boys and the others allegedly began punching him and kicking him.
