Man charged after $2 million worth of methylamphetamine found at Melbourne home

A man has been charged with drug trafficking after police seized $2 million worth of methylamphetamine from a home in Melbourne's east.

Police seized 20kg of methylamphetamine, cannabis and more than $20,000 in cash after executing a search warrant at a home on Nandina Street in Forest Hill last Thursday.

A 33-year-old Forest Hill man was arrested at the scene and was charged with a series of drug trafficking and possession offences, including failing to comply with a direction to assist.

Caulfield Divisional Response Unit Detective Senior Sergeant Jason Venturoni said the drug was a major driver of crime in the community.

"As a result of this operation, a significant amount of dangerous drugs are off our streets, which in turn will lessen the likelihood of a drug-fueled crime from occurring," he said.

"This sends a clear message that our teams of dedicated detectives will not stop targeting drug dealers, traffickers, and manufacturers causing harm in our community."

The man was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on February 16.
