Man charged with murder after deadly stabbing outside Melbourne pub

A man has been charged with murder after a man was killed outside a pub in Melbourne’s inner west.
Witnesses say a fight broke out on Sunday night inside the Courthouse Hotel on Nicholson Street in Footscray before spilling out onto the street.

A 25-year-old man was found with serious injuries in an alleyway behind the pub about 7.45pm. It’s believed he stumbled there after the fight.
He was found unresponsive on the ground and paramedics attempted to save him, however he died at the scene.
Investigators stalked nearby streets today to find information.
Police arrested a 37-year-old Williamston man without incident at Yarraville railway station about 8.30pm yesterday.
He has been charged with murder and will appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court today.
Police said the men were believed to have known each other, adding that they weren’t looking for anyone else over the incident.
Local business owners and residents told 9News that violent crime had been an issue in the area.
“We need 24-hour security around Footscray. It’s very hard for small businesses around here,” one owner said.
