Two charged over Vic harness race fixing

Raids in regional Victoria have seen two men charged over an alleged race fixing ring.
Police swooped on properties in Mildura and surrounds on Monday, arresting five men attached to the harness racing industry.
Three were later released but two, a 31-year-old Merbein man and 57-year-old Birdwoodton man, have been charged with various corrupt betting offences.

They were questioned over their actions during a ten-month window to December 2014, including two allegedly fixed races in Mildura.
Police had earlier raided properties in Merbein, Birdwoodton, Irymple, Mildura and Bolinda, seizing documents and other items.
The men charged have been bailed to appear in the Mildura Magistrates Court on May 6.
