Five arrested after chase in Melbourne

Five teenagers have been arrested in Melbourne's west following a police chase ending with a shot fired.

Police saw the allegedly stolen Holden sedan on Heaths Rd in Hoppers Crossing after 3pm but were unable to intercept the car.

The chase continued into Snipe Court in Werribee where the driver reversed at police, hit a patrol car and sped off before stopping when officers fired a single shot without inflicting injury.

The car was found shortly after dumped in Robert Close.

Police are interviewing a Wyndham Vale youth, 17, a Maryborough man,19, a Geelong woman, 18, a Wyndham Vale girl, 16 and a Hoppers Crossing girl, 17.

The Professional Standards Command will oversee the investigation.
