Firefighters rescue man from house fire in Melbourne’s east

Firefighters have evacuated a man from a burning home in the eastern Melbourne suburb of Balwyn.
Emergency crews were called to the Evelina Street home earlier today, and Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) members rescued a 60-year-old man from the home.

He has been taken to Box Hill hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
Initially fire crews had limited access to the home due to a “high volume” of personal belongings, an MFB spokesperson said.
