Fire breaks out at Melbourne’s DFO South Wharf shopping centre

Shoppers and staff have been evacuated from DFO South Wharf after a fire in a retail store.

Emergency services were called to the centre after the blaze broke out at a Lacoste apparel outlet about 3pm.

Video shared on Twitter showed smoke billowing past other nearby stores.

The centre’s sprinklers were activated to stop the fire from spreading, and it is now under control, according to the Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB).

Fire crews will remain at the scene because of heavy smoke.

There are no reports of injuries.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
