Fine for offal mess on Vic highway

A transport company that created an offal mess on a Victorian highway after failing to secure a tailgate properly has been fined.
Lumbars Transports was fined $7584 after a truck spilt animal carcasses and organs along a 30-kilometre stretch of the Northern Highway near Wallan on April 20.
"The offal had made the roadway extremely slippery and a hazard for traffic, and created a putrid smell where it was discarded on the roadway," a Environment Protection Authority Victoria spokeswoman said on Thursday.
