Victorian couple find woman's body next to pushbike

A woman has been found dead next to her bicycle in northeastern Victoria.

The body of the woman, aged in her 40s, was discovered by a local couple walking home in Benalla at about 1.15am on Tuesday (AEST).

A bicycle, which police believe the woman had been riding, was also found at the scene.

Police are working to determine whether the woman was involved in a hit and run, or if she simply fell from her bike.
