A Melbourne man who was trying to carry burning fat has ended up with his legs severely burnt and his roof on fire.
The 40-year-old man was cooking with fat in his Albion home when it caught fire on Monday morning, Metropolitan Fire Brigade spokesman David Rankine said.
"To stop the fire spreading he attempted to carry the burning fat outside, however spilt the fat on his legs and floor," Mr Rankine said.

The fire quickly took hold in the hallway and spread to the roof before it was extinguished.
The man is in The Alfred hospital in a stable condition.
