Ex-senator challenge returns to High Court

The challenge of retired Family First senator Bob Day returns to the High Court on Tuesday, as an ex-Labor senator seeks permission to obtain evidence.
Mr Day's eligibility to run for parliament is being challenged on the grounds he received an indirect benefit from the government in relation to his Adelaide electorate office.
Former Labor senator Anne McEwen, who lost her seat in July, is asking the court for permission to obtain evidence from a witness in a bid to use in the challenge, which if successful could open the door for her to return to parliament.
