Ex-premier to lead Victoria University

Former Labor premier Steve Bracks has been named as the next chancellor of Victoria University.

Mr Bracks, 64, who held the state's top job from 1999 to 2007, will take on the university role in January 2021, after the retirement of George Pappas, it was announced on Monday.

"I believe in community, education and supporting VU as it continues its transformation into a world-class university, known internationally for its innovation and job-ready graduates," Mr Bracks said.
