Ex-Vic cop accused of trafficking ice

A former Victorian police officer is accused of trafficking a large commercial quantity of ice.

Police allege ex-cop David Cameron Lister was intercepted with the drug last month at Townsville airport, in Queensland, the Melbourne Magistrates Court heard on Tuesday.

The 37-year-old was arrested and granted bail by Queensland authorities before he returned to Victoria, where police charged him with two offences and bailed him.

Lister is charged with trafficking a large commercial quantity of methylamphetamine - also known as ice - between January 6 and April 3, in Melbourne.

He also faces a charge of cultivating cannabis in Greenvale, in Melbourne's north, between December 2015 and January this year.

Lister, of Greenvale, resigned from the force in mid-January.

He appeared in court on Tuesday and his bail was extended ahead of a scheduled appearance in August.

The court heard telephone intercepts would be transcribed, and security camera footage needed to be formatted.

Prosecutor Jelena Malobabic asked that Lister not be allowed to leave Victoria as part of his bail conditions "given the circumstances of the arrest and intercept".

He was also required to surrender his passport, report to police three times per week and not associate with a co-accused.
