Euthanasia on Vic Nationals' agenda

The Victorian Nationals will debate whether to support the outcomes of Victoria's euthanasia inquiry.
Health Minister Jill Hennessy released an interim report on voluntary euthanasia last week, saying that if the state is to have an assisted dying model, it would be a conservative one.
She ruled out people with dementia and Alzheimer's being able to take up the option as they would need to have the "mental competence to make that choice".

The Nationals will put forward an urgency motion at their state conference on Saturday to debate if the party "supports in principle" the outcomes of the inquiry "subject to appropriate safeguards and controls".
