A "loving mother" of two who died after being stabbed in Melbourne's south-east was in the process of applying to be a police officer.

The former partner of Monique Lezsak paid tribute to the mother of his twin daughters this afternoon as he confirmed the professional bodybuilder was found dead by police in an Endeavour Hills home about 7.30am.

Lezsak's current partner was taken to the Alfred Hospital under police guard with serious upper body injuries, while one of the nine-year-old twins was taken to Monash Hospital with minor injuries.

"She has put so much into our kids and even her own family, she's just the most beautiful person," Jye Carter told reporters outside the family home.

"She is the most decent person I've ever met in my life, a loving caring mother, she's achieved so much in her life."

It is understood the girls were at the home during the alleged stabbing.

"I couldn't fault her in any way. I was with her for 10 years. We haven't been together since 2015, but she's just a decent person. She's a good mum," Carter added.
