Elderly Vic woman kicks sex offender

An elderly woman has kicked and slapped a man who allegedly started sexually assaulting a young woman on a Victorian street.

The bystander went to the aid of the 21-year-old victim after she was grabbed from behind and assaulted on Maude Street in Shepparton earlier last year, police said on Tuesday.

Police say the victim was too distraught and in shock to report the incident to officers when it occurred sometime between late February and early March 2016.
