Elderly man fatally struck by car in Vic

An elderly man has been killed while trying to reach a broken down car on a highway in central Victoria.
The NSW man, in his 80s, was returning to the vehicle on the Calder Freeway in Elphinstone when hit by a car at 6pm on Saturday, police say.
His death brings Victoria's road toll to 222 for the year.
