East West Link could be revived

Victoria's scrapped East West Link project could be revived thanks to a report on the state's infrastructure needs for the next 30 years.

The state government's new infrastructure body, Infrastructure Victoria, has been asked to prepare the report, which would highlight any projects the state needs over the next three decades, by the end of the year.

One of the many projects it will look at is the East West Link, The Age newspaper reports.

Premier Daniel Andrews said on Sunday he was looking forward to seeing the report but wouldn't comment further.

"It will give a 30 year view of everything the state, and city, might need, everything from hospitals to public transport, and roads, those sort of things," Mr Andrews told reporters.

The government spent $1.1 billion to rip up the East West Link contract when they came to power in 2014.
