A driver is accused of murdering one man and seriously injuring the victim's brother by running down the pair during a fight in Melbourne's west.

Ahmed Awalow Sharif, 26, faced Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with murdering Paul Duncanson, 40, and seriously injuring his 44-year-old brother at Braybrook on Saturday night.

"The accused has driven in the direction of the deceased person and his brother," a prosecutor told magistrate Donna Bakos.

Sharif has been remanded in custody and will return to court on April 4.

The prosecution says a pathology report on the murdered victim will take four months to complete.
