Vic driver in court over severed arm crash

A man has appeared in court accused of dangerous driving that resulted in a tow truck driver losing his arm as he helped a motorist on a Melbourne freeway.

Frankston resident Nathan Cameron, 39, faced Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday charged with negligent driving causing serious injury and recklessly causing serious injury.

He is also charged with dangerous driving causing serious injury, dangerous driving, and driving in an emergency stopping lane.

The victim was helping a motorist in the emergency lane of the Peninsula Link at Carrum Downs on November 14 when Cameron allegedly swerved into the emergency lane and struck him, severing his arm.

Police are analysing CCTV footage of the incident, the court was told.

Cameron, who is on bail, will return to court on February 16.
