Driver assisting police after pedestrian hit by car in Melbourne dies

A pedestrian has died in hospital after being hit by a car in Melbourne's south-west yesterday.
Investigators believe that the man was crossing Derrimut Road at Hoppers Crossing, near the busy intersection of Baggott Road, when he was hit by a northbound Holden Astra at about 7.30pm.

The unidentified man was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital but later died.
The driver, from Werribee South, wasn’t injured and is assisting police with their enquiries.
A report is being prepared for the Coroner.
Investigators urge anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
