Dogs, cats spooked by fireworks in Vic

About 50 pets have ended up in Victorian animal shelters after being spooked by fireworks over New Year's Eve celebrations.
Forty nine dogs and a kitten were taken in at the The Lost Dogs' Home's two locations in Melbourne, down from about 100 last year.
The home's general manager of animal welfare Dr David Cunliffe is urging anyone who has lost a pet or has found one wandering the streets to contact their local shelter or council.
