Man threatened by unknown offender during alleged extortion attempt in Melbourne

Police have released an image of a man they would like to speak to as a part of the investigation into an alleged extortion attempt in Melbourne.

A man is believed to have visited a home in Croydon South about 9.20am on August 21, before knocking on the victim's front door.

The man threatened the victim, shortly after he answered the door, police said.

Investigators have released an image of a man they believe may be able to assist them with their enquires. Victoria Police

Police said the victim had never seen the man before and quickly called police.

After the man left the home, he was followed by the victim to another address on Faraday Road, where the man remained for a short time.

The offender is perceived to be Caucasian, between 40 and 50-years-old and was last seen wearing a black jumper, brown work pants, brown work boots and an orange hi-vis vest.
