Crows blamed for disappearance of Melbourne chihuahua

The devastated owner of a chihuahua snatched from a backyard in Melbourne is blaming crows for the the tiny pup's disappearance.

Fudge, a four-month-old miniature chihuahua, went missing from her owner's Kilsyth home yesterday morning and has not been seen since, the Lilydale & Yarra Valley Leader reports.

Heather Sinden, who is battling lung cancer, was only given the dog two months ago to offer her some companionship during a difficult period.

Ms Sinden's daughter Melinda Pride said her mother had been worried about leaving Fudge in the backyard after seeing a group of crows hanging around the garden.

She said the dog normally stayed inside the house but had gone out to do its business.

"Then she heard her (Fudge) screaming and she was gone," Ms Pride said.

She said her mother was "very attached" to the pup and collapsed from shock when she realised it was gone.

"Mum was only saying a week or so ago 'if anything happens to this little dog I don't know what I'll do'," Ms Pride said said.

The family are praying for the Fudge's safe returned and have used social media to appeal for help.
