Critically injured baby in Vic hospital

A nine-month-old baby is in a critical condition in a Melbourne hospital as police investigate what happened.

Paramedics contacted police after they were called to a Melton West home about 10am on Tuesday.

The baby was airlifted to the Royal Children's Hospital in a critical condition.

A police spokeswoman said police were investigating the circumstances surrounding the injuries.

Ambulance Victoria said an unconscious baby boy was stabilised at the scene before being flown to hospital.
