Hobart pizza shop devastated by blaze

A popular Hobart pizza shop gutted by fire was the target of a deliberate arson attack, police say.

Dino Pizza, which has been operating for 30 years in Claremont, suffered $230,000 damage during the blaze in the early hours of Tuesday.

Police say two hooded people arrived in a stolen car and parked outside the store before smashing the windows and getting inside.

"They've used petrol in a jerry can, poured it throughout the business and set it on fire," senior constable Ricki Eaves said.

"It certainly appears targeted."

The pair drove off and remain on the run.

Dino Pizza owner Stephen Noble said he was left "shocked and devastated".

"It's gutted, I'm gutted, my staff are gutted," he said on Facebook.

"It was a little iconic business build from the ground 30 years ago and now (it's been) put back on the ground in a pile of rubble."

Police say there's no evidence to suggest anyone held a vendetta against the business or its owner.

Investigators are collecting CCTV footage from adjoining businesses, which were remarkably left unscathed by the fire.
