Council fined for stinky tip in Melbourne

A Melbourne council has been fined for failing to control the stench from a rubbish dump.

City of Boroondara was fined more than $7500 for failing to control gas emission levels at the Clayton Regional Landfill site, the Environment Protection Authority says.

EPA officers visited the site in May after complaints of an offensive odour and found that gas emission levels exceeded best practice guidelines.
