A man plans to fight allegations he murdered his mother in Melbourne amid concerns about his fitness to stand trial.
Socrates Tamvakis, 44, appeared in the Victorian Supreme Court via video link on Tuesday for a directions hearing after he was ordered to stand trial over the 2016 murder of his 75-year-old mother, Violet.
"It still appears there's a live issue there as to mental impairment and fitness to plea," senior crown prosecutor Peter Rose QC told Justice Christopher Beale.
