Collingwood great Nathan Buckley has been forced to sell important memorabilia from his football career following a bitter divorce battle.

Hundreds of items are available to purchase including his prized guernsey he wore during the 2002 grand final defeat to Brisbane.

Buckley separated from his wife Tania in 2020, with his entire catalog of memorabilia understood to be part of the settlement.

Auctioneer Charles Leski said the collection as worth more than $100,000.

"It's rare that we have so much material from an iconic sportsman or woman available all at once," he said.

"We have been able to tell the whole story of Nathan to date, it's been a nice experience under difficult circumstances."

Gear from his time at the Brisbane Bears and Williamstown VFL and International Rules gear also feature among the many items.

It's understood he has bought back his 2003 Brownlow Medal and 2002 Norm Smith Medals for an undisclosed figure.

"The catalog has been designed to be a record of the collection before anything happens to it. It's possible someone can put up their hand and say they will buy the lot," Leski said.

"It doesn't include his Brownlow Medal and important medals he has won. There was an agreement between the parties that he could keep those.

"We have everything else that reflects where he has played, and coached. We have got it."
