Charges after Melbourne man set alight

A man has been charged over after a fight in which his alleged victim was set on fire in Melbourne's CBD.

The 34-year-old faced the Melbourne Magistrates Court twice on Saturday and was charged with a string of offences including intentionally causing serious injury and conduct endangering life.

The 36-year-old victim is fighting for life in the Alfred Hospital with burns to 50 per cent of his body.

It is alleged three men were involved in an altercation at an abandoned Southbank nightclub about 1pm on Friday.

Two, an 33-year-old and the 34-year-old, were found hiding on a nearby roof and were both arrested after emergency services were called to a suspicious fire on Hancock St.

The 33-year-old was taken to hospital with minor injuries and is under police guard.
