Charge dropped against Victorian mum arrested for organising anti-lockdown protest

A Victorian mother who was arrested at her home for organising an anti-lockdown protest while she was livestreaming on social media has had the charge against her dropped.

Zoe Buhler was pregnant when police raided her Ballarat home on September 2, 2020, and arrested her for creating a Freedom Day rally event on Facebook for her regional town.

Close to 10 million people have since watched the video of her being arrested in her pyjamas while telling police she is pregnant.

Buhler was held in custody overnight after being charged with incident, and was then granted bail on the condition she not post on social media or visit Ballarat CBD.

However, the charge of incitement against her was dropped at her hearing at Ballarat Magistrates' Court this morning.

A statement from Victoria Police has since advised that the charge being dropped "follows an individual assessment of the case where it was determined that it was not in the public interest to continue with the prosecution".

Buhler told reporters she will consider her options going forward.

"Especially in regards to being handcuffed while pregnant," she said.
