Victorian government to accept recommendations addressing troubled construction sector
The Victorian government will overhaul and strengthen labour hire rules following the release of its final report into the state's troubled construction sector.
Premier Jacinta Allan announced the government would accept all recommendations outlined in the report, which was handed down by investigator Greg Wilson today.
The move comes after new revelations aired by 60 Minutes and Nine newspapers that more than 20 members of the CFMEU have been stood down following allegations the union has been infiltrated by criminal figures.

Recommendations outlined in the report include that government construction contracts require clauses that cover criminal or other unlawful conduct, requiring contractors to report and address suspected criminal conduct on worksites.
A new complaints referral body will also be set up.
An alliance across state and federal law enforcement, regulators will also be established to tackle crime on government construction sites.
Allan said the investigation had highlighted serious issues within the construction sector.

"I was absolutely disgusted at the allegations of criminal, unlawful behaviour that was reported on Victorian and indeed Australian construction sites," she said.
"We have zero tolerance for this behaviour and we'll work incredibly hard to pull this rotten culture out by its roots.
"Criminal and unlawful behaviour has no place in Victoria's construction industry, and I thank Mr Wilson for his work that will help us stamp it out."
The CFMEU's construction arm was placed into administration in August by the federal government.
The Victorian government said the recommendations and their impact will be evaluated after two years.
