CFMEU official accused over stripper deal

A senior construction union official has been accused of accepting cash for strippers from a builder in exchange for securing lucrative job contracts.

The unnamed Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union official allegedly spent $2000 on strippers at a King Street club in 2010, while tickets to the drawn 2010 St Kilda v Collingwood grand final were also part of the deal, News Corp Australia has reported.

Authorities have allegedly recovered text messages discussing the payments and have photographs of the builder and the union official together in Melbourne's strip club precinct.

Victoria's Opposition Leader Matthew Guy said the Labor party should cut the CFMEU loose with more allegations against it due to be aired at the Royal Commission into Trade Union Governance and Corruption.

"The CFMEU won't go away for Daniel Andrews," Mr Guy said on Monday.

"He brought them back into the Labor party and here they are, paying this time for strippers.

"This is a rogue union, and it is really utterly out of control, and it totally beggars belief that Daniel Andrews will not cut them loose.
